Deb Price and Joyce Murdoch talked about their book, Courting Justice: Gay Men and Lesbians v. the Supreme Court. talk about their book, Courting Justice: Gay Men and Lesbians v. the Supreme Court, published by Basic Books. The book is a history of U.S. Supreme Court decisions involving gay and lesbian rights from the 1950s to the present day. They discuss many of the cases and the issues that they surmise influenced the decisions of the justices over the last 50 years. Ms. Price also talks about the gay litigants who brought the cases and often lost. They suggest that currently there are four justices sympathetic to gay rights and that the next round of appointments will be very important for the gay rights movement. Ms. Price also says she hopes the book will motivate activists to get involved in the next choice to the court. The co-authors take questions from the audience at the end of the program. close
