Professor Gary Gallagher talked about his book, Lee & His Army in Confederate History, published by the University of North Carolina Press. The book describes General Robert E. Lee and his relationship with the Southern people, saying that Lee’s reputation in the South reached mythic proportions during the Civil War. The author researched artifacts of the period including military orders, letters, and personal documents of soldiers, in order to learn more about Robert E. Lee. After the presentation the author answered questions from members of the audience. close
