Professor Elliot Gorn spoke about his book, Mother Jones: The Most Dangerous Woman in America, published by Hill & Wang. The biography is about social activist Mother Jones and the times in which she lived. The author described the life of Mother Jones, a socialist organizer and orator during the late 1800's and early 1900's. Mother Jones was first Mary Harris, an Irish immigrant who married and became Mary Jones. After losing her husband and children to yellow fever, she re-created herself as Mother Jones and became well known as an activist for the rights of the working class. Professor Gorn took questions at the end of the program. close
