Ruth Gruber talked about her memoir Inside of Time: My Journey From Alaska to Israel, published by Carroll and Graf Publishers. It is the sequel to her earlier memoir, Ahead of Time. In an on-stage conversation with her niece Dava Sobel, author of Longitude, she talked about her life in the U.S. government and as a foreign correspondent with the New York Herald Tribune. She also shared anecdotes of her experiences with Eleanor Roosevelt, Harold Ickes, Secretary of the Interior for Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Israeli leaders Golda Meir and David Ben-Gurion. A question and answer period followed Ms. Gruber’s remarks. close
