President Bush spoke to the nation from the Treaty Room about the military strikes that the U.S. military carried out against military targets in Afghanistan. The military attacks were in response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against the U.S. World Trade Center and the Pentagon. He referred to the effort as Operation Enduring Force. President Bush’s remarks were made at 1:00 p.m. ET and carried live on all U.S. television networks. close
