Geneive Abdo talked about her book, No God but God: Egypt and the Triumph of Islam, published by Oxford University Press. She described the phenomenon of moderate Islamists whose aim is to create Islamic societies that are pluralistic political systems achieved through non-violent democratic means, focusing on their specific desire to transform Egypt from a secular state into an Isamic state through Islamic law. Ms. Abdo also talked about the hostility of Muslims towards Americans because they are disenchanted with the U.S backing of government policies that they oppose within their own Muslim countries' governments. She also talked about Egyptians' opposition to President Mubarek’s government and answered questions from members of the audience. close
