Mr. Sherbell talked about book Soviets: Pictures from the End of the USSR, published by Yale University Press. The book has more than 200 black-and-white photographs taken just following the break-up of the Soviet Union between 1990 and 1993. Traveling throughout the fifteen former Soviet republics, he photographed scenes of ordinary life. During his talk, Mr. Sherbell showed slides of 40 photographs from the book and explained the situation behind each scene. He also answered questions from members of the audience. close
