The Tuesday questions focused on bombings which occurred the day before in two railroad stations, injuring many and leaving over half a million commuters without transportation. The IRA has claimed responsibility. The members discussed the Persian Gulf war and the British media coverage of the conflict. Also discussed were the sports boycott of South African games and the poll tax, a new tax set by each local government which replaced the property tax. On Thursday, the topics included the possibility of a major land offensive in the Persian Gulf war, the poll tax, budget guidelines for local police and fire, the privatization of the Rover Car Company, and the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Royal Chemical Society. close
