Professor Chomsky discussed his book 9-11, published by Seven Stories Press. In the book, he examines the events of September 11, the historical precedents for it, and the long-term implications of the United States' “new war on terrorism.” Mr. Chomsky stated that the first war on terrorism was initiated by the Reagan administration and focused on Central America and the Middle East. In addition, he raised questions concerning media coverage of the attacks on the World Trade Center. 9-11 is a composite of interviews, conducted mainly by e-mail, with Mr. Chomsky and various journalists in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. close
