The FSA was a New Deal program designed to assist poor farmers during the Great Depression. In addition to the images, the text is comprised of: recollections of people who grew up during the Depression, observations of social workers, and children’s letters to Eleanor Roosevelt. The book is a collection of images of children taken by Depression-era Farm Security Administration photographers, including Dorothea Lange, Gordon Parks, Walker Evans, and Marion Post Walcott.
