Senator Dale Bumpers (D-Arkansas) toured Little Rock and other areas of his home state of Arkansas signing copies of his book, The Best Lawyer in a One-Lawyer Town, published by Random House. During one 15-hour day, the former Democratic senator and governor signed hundreds of books, greeted old friends, gave one talk, and was interviewed several times for radio and television.

His autobiography detailed Senator Bumpers' life growing up in a small town during the Depression, his service as a marine during WWII, his work as a lawyer, and his political career beginning with his election as governor of Arkansas in 1970. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1974 and retired from office in 1998. close
