Mr. Horowitz, former editor of Ramparts magazine, talked about his book, Uncivil Wars: The Controversy Over Reparations for Slavery, published by Encounter Books. In 2001 Mr. Horowitz placed a full-page advertisement in about 70 college newspapers arguing against giving slavery-related reparations to African-Americans. The book describes the resulting controversy and clarifies his stance on the issue. After his presentation he answered questions from members of the audience. close
