Officials spoke to reporters about proposed programs to eliminate abusive tax avoidance transactions. The plans would require tax advisers to report corporations, partnerships, and high-income individuals who use tax shelters to reduce their tax bills by over $250,000. The programs would also levy large fines on those who fail to report such transactions. Following their remarks they answered questions from the reporters. close
