Warren Cohen, author of The Asian American Century, talked about the impact of Asian culture in the United States. The book was published by Harvard University Press. Professor Cohen began with a short discussion of U.S. influence in East Asia, sometimes described as “imperialism,” and then turned to what he argued was rarely thought about: the vast influence of Asian culture (films, food, religion, sexual practices, medicine, art, games, etc.) on Americans. He tied this growing influence to the growing population of Asian Americans in the U.S. (an estimated ten percent of the population by 2050). Professor Cohen answered questions following his talk. close
