Senator Bill Frist, M.D. (R-TN) is the first practicing physician to become a senator since 1928. In addition to performing over 150 heart and lung transplant procedures, Dr. Frist has written more than 100 articles, chapters, and abstracts on medical research as well as several books. Dr. Frist is ranking member of the Subcommittee on Public Health and Safety, serves in the Senate leadership, and was named one of two Congressional representatives to the United Nations General Assembly. close
