Author David Smith talked to students about his book If the World Were a Village, published by Kids Can Press. Since it’s difficult to grasp the living conditions of the world’s 6 billion people, Mr. Smith explained the statistics by describing what the world would look like as a village of 100 people. In this world, 60 people are always hungry, 31 go to school, 24 have a television, 22 speak a Chinese dialect, 20 earn less than a dollar a day. close
