The pair shared stories about Random House founders Bennett Cerf and Donald Klopfer, authors William Faulkner and William Saroyan, and the books Ulysses and Lolita. They talked about Mr. Styron’s experience suffering from severe depression and the memoir that grew out of it. Mr. Styron and Mr. Loomis have known each other since the late 1940s when both attended Duke University.
Ann Godoff was also interviewed.
