Members of the House heard a written statement by Rep. Madigan (R-IL) whereby he resigned as a member of the House of Representatives effective Friday, March 8. The House also heard a statement by Rep. Lightfoot (R-IA) wherein he resigned as a member of the Select Committee on Aging. The House agreed to H.Res. 109, electing Rep. Upton to the Committee on Energy and Commerce. A message was read by the President wherein he provided notice of his intention to terminate, no sooner than 15 days from the date of notice, the sanctions imposed with respect to Kuwait. close
