Mr. Skousen talked about five major influences on the currents of modern economics. These influences include the economists Adam Smith, Karl Marx, John Maynard Keynes and Milton Friedman, along with the Austrian School of Economics. Professor Skousen’s book, The Making of Modern Economics, which was published by M. E. Sharpe and takes Adam Smith as its hero, looks at a vast range of economists (many who, according to Skousen, are largely ignored in popular economics texts) who have made an impact on shaping the major economic theories of modern times. He answered questions following his talk. close
