Telephone lines were opened for viewers of the Washington Journal to express their comments and opinions on whether or not Libya’s offer to pay 2.7 billion dollars to the families of the 270 people who died in the 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland was sufficient. The Libyan government also made this offer linked to the decisions by the United Nations and the U.S. government to to lift long-standing economic sanctions and to also remove Libya from the American list of state sponsors of terrorism. close
