The Southern Kentucky Festival of Books hosted a discussion on stories from World War II featuring Franklin Anderson who compiled the letters that became Pogue’s War: Diaries of a WWII Combat Historian; Aileen Kilgore Henderson, author of Stateside Soldier: Life in the Women’s Army Corps, 1944-1945; and Arthur Kelly, author of Battlefire: Combat Stories from World War II. Mr. Anderson’s book is a collection of journal entries written by his uncle, a historian/soldier during World War II. Stateside Soldier is the author’s account of her service in the Women’s Army Corps on an Army Air Force base during World War II. In his book, Col. Arthur Kelly (US Army, Ret.) tells the story of the men and boys from small towns across America whose heroics in battle made them heroes during the war. Following their presentations, the panel answered questions from members of the audience. close
