Rodney Carroll talked about his book No Free Lunch: One Man’s Journey from Welfare to the American Dream, published by Ballantine Books. He talked about growing up poor, the inspiration he received from his grandmother, and his eventual rise out of poverty. Mr. Carroll also discussed his current role as CEO and president of the Welfare to Work Partnership, an organization that helps people on welfare find employment. Mr. Carroll joined the Welfare to Work Partnership after a 22-year career with UPS, where he rose to the level of operations division manager. Following his talk he answered questions from members of the audience. close
