Ms. Bingham and Ms. Gansler talked about their book, Class Action: The Story of Lois Jenson and the Landmark Case that Changed Sexual Harassment Law, published by Doubleday. The book tells the story of the first class action sexual harassment lawsuit in the United States. Filed in 1988 by a group of Eveleth, Minnesota mineworkers, the case was settled 11 years later for several million dollars. Ms. Bingham and Ms. Gansler describe the harassment experienced by the women in the mines, the harsh treatment they received during the trials, and the eventual improvements in the law brought about because of the case. They answered questions from the audience following their remarks. close
