Mr. Dershowitz spoke about his newest book, Why Terrorism Works: Understanding the Threat, Responding to the Challenge, published by Yale University Press. In the book the author asserts that one reason that terrorist acts are consistently utilized is because the international communities consistently recognizes and responds to acts of terrorism. He offers the suggestion that national leadership on a global level needs to take the appropriate steps to curtail such attacks. He also suggests a national identification card, increased cooperation amongst government agencies, as well as some form of measured torture against terrorists in order to gain inside information about upcoming attacks. After the event, Mr. Dershowitz answered questions from members of the audience. close
