Another Day at the Front
Mr. Reed talked about his collection of essays Another Day at the Front: Dispatches from the Race War, published by Basic Books. According to Mr. Reed, African Americans have been at war with the society at large for over three hundred years and have grown used to having their civil liberties threatened. Through a series of essays, Mr. Reed examines the various ways in which this “war” has manifested itself. The topics cover such subjects as the Confederate flag controversy, National Public Radio, George W. Bush, historian Henry Louis Gates Jr., sociologist Orlando Patterson, talk radio personality Don Imus and attorney general John Ashcroft. close
