Mr. Myers read and discussed his book Patrol: An American Solder in Vietnam, published by HarperCollins Publishers. The book is a story-poem picture book set in Vietnam. The author explores the psyche of a young soldier in an unfamiliar land, who encounters an enemy as young as himself. Mr. Myers joined the army on his seventeenth birthday, at the beginning of American involvement in Vietnam. According to him, the death of his brother in 1968 changed his perceptions about war. Mr. Archibald and Ms. Hampton assisted Mr. Myers in the reading of his book. A question and answer session followed the presentation. close
