Senator Frist, a former heart and lung surgeon, discussed his book entitled, When Every Moment Counts: What You Need to Know About Bioterrorism from the Senate’s Only Doctor, published by Rowman and Littlefield. In the book, he details the process involved in preparing for a bioterrorist threat. He is a ranking member of the Senate Subcomittee on Public Health, and couples that with his background as a surgeon to explain the different symptoms and treatments for exposure to a number of biological agents. The book also evaluates the current state of readiness of America’s public health system. close
