Captain James Cook was born in rural Yorkshire, England and eventually became a successful explorer sailing from the Arctic to the Antarctic, Tierra del Fuego, Siberia, and Tasmania. When his voyage began in 1768, only two-thirds of the Earth’s surface had been mapped. The author retraced a segment of Captain Cook’s voyages aboard a replica of one of Cook’s vessels and discovered the effect that Captain Cook still has today in the areas he explored. After the presentation the author answered questions from members of the audience.
