Linda Chavez and Senator Orrin Hatch discussed their respective political memoirs titled, “An Unlikely Conservative: The Transformation of An Ex-Liberal” and "Square Peg: Confessions of a Citizen Senator". Ms. Chavez tells about her transformation from a liberal Democrat to a conservative Republican, which she says was caused both by her disapproval of Affirmative Action programs and her desire to encourage Mexican immigrants to learn the English language. Senator Hatch spoke about stories about his experiences as a freshman senator and what decisions he wishes he would have made differently. Following their presentations, both speakers answered questions from members of the audience. close
