Ms. Lowry talked about her forthcoming book Her Dream of Dreams: The Rise and Triumph of Madam C. J. Walker, to be published by Alfred A. Knopf. Mme. Walker is an early African-American entrepreneur.

Ms. Lowry also talked about her book Crossed Over: A Murder, A Memoir, published by Random House. The book is about the friendship she developed with Karla Faye Tucker, a death-row prisoner in Texas. Ms. Lowry began visiting her shortly after a hit-and-run driver killed her son Peter in 1984. The book is about the friendship she developed and her thoughts about death as well as about Ms. Tucker’s circumstances. close
