Geeks and Geezers
Mr. Bennis talked about the book he co-authored, Geeks and Geezers: How Era, Values, and Defining Moments Shape Leaders, published by Harvard Business School Press. According to the authors, the book presents a new paradigm that predicts who is likely to become leader. The title refers to today’s young business leaders, “geeks", who were shaped by television and computer screens and "geezers,” the men and women who grew up during the Depression and World War II. The co-authors use these categories to illustrate how potential leaders respond to testing periods titled “crucibles.” The book explores subjects such as age, baby boomers, family life and leadership. Following his presentation, Mr. Bennis responded to questions from the audience. close
