A tour was conducted of Senator Strom Thurmond’s (R-SC) Capitol Hill office, filled with political memorabilia from his 48-year career in the upper house. Senator Thurmond celebrated his 100th birthday earlier in the month and was retiring at the end of his term in January 2003. At the time of this tour Senator Thurmond was the longest-serving member in the history of the Senate. close
