In a live program, Whitewater figure Susan McDougal talks about her memoir The Woman Who Wouldn’t Talk, published by Carroll and Graf. Ms. McDougal was one of the most controversial, if peripheral, players during the Clinton-era scandals. When she refused to answer questions in front of a grand jury, she was held in civil contempt and sent to jail. This tactic, meant to force cooperation, backfired. Ms. McDougal spent 21 months in jail and gained sympathy at the expense of the Office of the Independent Counsel (OIC). After her presentation, Ms. McDougal will respond to questions from members of the audience. close
