Moderated by Mr. Godchaux, a television sitcom writer, the panelists discussed the idea of Southern humor. Each talked about how life experiences growing up in the South influenced his or her writing. After their remarks, they answered audience members' questions.

Dorothy Allison is the author of several books including Bastard Out of Carolina, Trash: Stories, and The Women Who Hate Me, a collection of poetry. Rick Bragg, a national correspondent for the New York Times, is the author of All Over but the Shoutin', Ava’s Man, and Somebody Told Me: The Newspaper Stories of Rick Bragg. Jim Grimsley is the author of five books including Winter Birds, Dream Boy, and Boulevard: A Novel. He is a playwright-in-residence at 7 Stages Theatre in Atlanta and a professor at Emory University. close
