The authors talked about their book, Reconsidering the Souls of Black Folk: Thoughts on the Groundbreaking Classic Work of W.E.B. DuBois, published by Running Press. Their book is a discussion of the legacy and current relevance of The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B. DuBois. First published in 1903, the original book was a collection of fourteen essays on race and racism in American society in which DuBois asserted, “The problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color line.” Mr. Crouch and Mr. Benjamin appraised the ideas of the black sociologist and intellectual, including advocacy of the black “talented tenth” and his philosophical differences with Booker T. Washington. A question and answer period followed their presentation. close
