Mr. Fein and Mr. Schwartz gave their perspectives on the effect the Supreme Court has on Americans basic rights. Although the court is less visible and mobile than the other two branches of government, the court still has profound impact on the same of the United States. They discussed whether the court’s decisions are based more on the cyclical nature of public attitudes or the appointments of justices. They also talked about the idea of legislative correction to “wrong interpretations” by the court. Specific topics included rights under the First Amendment, civil rights, and religious freedom rights. close
