Ms. Fosl talked about her biography Subversive Southerner: Anne Braden and the Struggle for Racial Justice in the Cold War South, published by Palgrave Macmillan. Anne Braden was a civil rights activist who was accused of being a communist and seditionist by southern politicians. She later became a role model to protesters launching sit-ins and successful peaceful protests. Ms. Fosl described Anne Braden’s role in the fight for racial justice in the South and eventually the whole U.S. She also talked about the process of doing research for the book and answered questions from members of the audience. close
