Steven Brill talked about his book After: How America Confronted the September 12 Era, published by Simon and Schuster. He described using nearly 350 interviews with those involved in the post-September 11th revitalization of the American system. These included local and federal government officials, rescue workers, and corporate leaders. Mr. Brill also mentioned a list of people he saw as important in the post-September 11 transition, such as Kenneth Feinberg, Special Master of the Victims Compensation Fund; James Brosnahan, lawyer for John Walker Lindh; Anthony Romero, Executive Director of the ACLU; and John Ashcroft, U.S. Attorney General. The book examines the roles that each of these men and women played and the difficulties they have encountered along the way. After the presentation the audience had the opportunity to ask questions. close
