The House returned Monday from its two week Easter break. Tuesday’s questions to the Prime Minister focused on the following topics: why he was “dithering and fudging” because of his decision to allow for consultation over a replacement for the poll tax or community charge, help for the Kurdish refugees on the borders of Iraq, his meeting with the Prime Minister of Turkey and the occupation of northern Cyprus by Turkey. On Thursday, the questions covered these issues: British unemployment which were just announced, the Cabinet’s settlement on a replacement for the poll tax, whether British soldiers exposed to radiation during 1950s bomb testing should be compensated by the government for health problems, and the Cardiff Bay bill which would allow a major development in the principality and sea port of Wales Cardiff. close
