The Senate agreed to S. Con. Res. 31, providing for the conditional recess of Congress initiated by the House. The Senate agreed to S. Res. 96, to update Senate Resolution 219 relating to the Senior Citizen Intern Program. The Senate also agreed to S. Res. 114, authorizing the Secretary of the Senate to pay certain expenses incurred in connection with the funeral of the Honorable John Tower. The Senate continued consideration of S. Con. Res. 29, setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for the next five fiscal years. The Domenici/Sasser amendments to assure the integrity of the Social Security trust;the Riegle/Bond amendment, to provide funding for new initiatives authorized in the National Affordable Housing Act of 1990; and the Cranston/Exon amendment to increase funding for veterans' programs, were all adopted. close
