President Goulet of Djibouti and U.S. President Bush spoke outside the White House after meeting in the Oval Office. President Bush lauded Djibouti’s support for the coalition forces during the Persian Gulf war. President Goulet responded in French (translated through an interpreter) to President Bush’s remarks by asking the U.S. to take action in the civil wars taking place in the horn of Africa which have taken tens of thousands of lives and threaten millions more. After President Goulet departed in a White House limousine, President Bush responded to a reporter’s question on White House chief of staff John Sununu, who had been accused of taking advantage of his position to take free non-work related trips on government airplanes. He said Mr. Sununu had complied with regulations by fully disclosing his travel on government planes, and Mr. Sununu had his full confidence. He said the policy on employee travel would be reviewed. close
