A groundbreaking ceremony marked the beginning of the modernization project for the U.S. Supreme Court building. Completed in 1935, the Supreme Court building in Washington will undergo its first upgrade in 70 years. Chief Justice William Rehnquist and Justice Sandra Day O’Connor talked about the building’s history and thanked all the planners and designers. After their remarks, they symbolically broke ground with shovels. close
