Pelosi, the House minority leader, was the first woman to lead either party in either house of congress. She talked about women in politics and recent political events. Ms. Walsh talked about women’s participation in politics, focusing on how women could become more involved in politics. Ms. McDougal, who was given a double mastectomy after being incorrectly diagnosed with breast cancer, talked about her life and experiences and expressed her opposition to proposed legislation to limit awards for non-economic damages in civil and medical malpractice lawsuits. close
