Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg addressed the Second Circuit Judicial Conference. She and Justice Stephen Breyer then participated in a panel discussion about the Supreme Court’s 2002 term. Among the major decisions discussed were those on three-strike crime laws, mandatory incarceration of lawful permanent resident aliens while deportation procedures were underway, retroactive copyright extensions, cross burning, federalism, and constitutional privacy protection. Panelists also talked about the functioning of the judicial branch.
