Edwin Cole Bearss: History's Pied Piper Mr. Waugh discussed his biography, Edwin Cole Bearss: History’s Pied Piper, published by History America Tours. He described the life of Edwin Bearss, including his experiences in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Mr. Bearss began working for the National Park Service in 1955 and became their Chief Historian in 1981 where he served until 1994. The following year he served as the Director’s Special Assistant for Military Sites until his retirement in October of 1995. Other speakers paid tribute to Mr. Bearss. The participants answered audience members' questions. close
