After an introduction by Stephen Kendrick, who is Senior Minister of the First AND Second Church in Boston, Professor Francis Bremer talked about his book, John Winthrop: America’s Forgotten Founding Father, published by Oxford University Press. The book is a biography of John Winthrop, who served as the first governor of the Massachusetts Bay colony. Mr. Bremer described his research in the collection of the Massachusetts Historical Society, the life and achievements of John Winthrop, and Winthrop’s many contributions to the founding of the colonies. The author also discussed Winthrop’s governorship of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and examined the spiritual struggles Winthrop endured. Following his prepared presentation, Mr. Bremer responded to questions from the audience. close
