Mr. Sifry and Ms. Watzman talked about their book, Is That a Politician in Your Pocket?: Washington on $2,000,000 a Day, published by John Wiley and Sons. The book is about campaign financing. The authors said that special interest donations from big money organizations in banking, agriculture, high-tech, and securities industries can affect the lives of U.S. citizens more than the average person believes. They argue that when organizations give such large-scale donations, they’re essentially buying policies protecting their own special interests without concern for the average citizen. After their presentation they answered audience members' questions. close
