The Mobilization on Development, Trade, Labor, and the Environment, a coalition of representatives from over 60 human, civil rights, and environmental groups, held a news conference to express their objections to the proposed North American Free Trade Agreement. Members of the coalition spoke to reporters on behalf of farmers in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and the environment. Mr. Cavanaugh said the group found a great deal of opposition to the North American Free Trade Agreement in Canada and Mexico as well as the U.S. He called for an expansion of the negotiations over a trade agreement to include regulations concerning worker rights and environmental protection. close
