He talked about recent economic developments, the challenges facing America, and the proper methods for evaluating fiscal policy. He said that President Bush’s economic package was moving the country in the right direction by restoring growth and promoting capital accumulation. He also said that the current state of Social Security and Medicare was not sustainable. Following prepared remarks, Mr. Mankiw responded to questions from the audience. close
