Author and journalist William Greider talked about his book, The Soul of Capitalism: Opening Paths to a Moral Economy, published by Simon and Schuster. He said that although our society has solved the fundamental economic problems of starvation and scarcity of provisions, American capitalism is failing most citizens. The author asserted that the pursuit of affluence has eroded family life, damaged communities, and ruined the environment. He also said that the solution will not be by political means or more government regulation, but that small-scale reformers working to transform the economic system from within will create and perpetuate the needed changes. close
